Hi! We are the Tickle family – Jenny, Dave, Choe & Ryan. We love adventurous, off-the beaten track, DIY travel, we aim to stay away from the crowds and explore new destinations as much as possible within a budget. We have launched this blog to share great family friendly destinations and travel tips with you (with a cheeky child-free trip thrown in now and then!)
The main writer and photographer behind this blog is me, Jenny, mum of two, former travel consultant turned travel lecturer and passionate, boarding on obsessed, traveller. My love for travel started many years ago when, after graduating university, I decided to to by a round the world plane ticket and go travelling, solo. In this year I travelled and worked all round Australia before moving on to explore New Zealand, Fiji and the USA. I was bitten by the travel bug. The only sensible decision I could make when I returned home was to get a job as a travel consultant, allowing me to live, breathe and eat travel!
Since becoming a mum, my passion for travel has not diminished and I am determined to pass on my love of travel to my children. I tailor-make all our trips myself, creating itineraries that will accommodate the needs of both us, the adults as well as the children. Whilst I would love to be hurtling around exploring every inch of every destination, I realise that travel with children requires some compromise, so I build in their interests, and of course, that all important pool time!
As a college lecturer, and with both children in school, our travel is limited to school holiday time, which can be pricey! We travel on a budget, (no luxury travel here!) experiencing new destinations and we’re here to share how this is possible in school holidays.
